About Us Group History
Before the Panhandle Symphony Orchestra (PSO) existed, the group was originally called the Fort Sherman Symphonette. This group was sponsored by the Fort Sherman Historical Society, and Robert Singletary was instrumental in its inception and growth. As this group grew, it evolved officially into the PSO in November 2009.
PSO is a community orchestra with over fifty experienced musicians, varying from school age to retirees. It is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.

Becoming a Voting Member
The PSO has financial obligations to keep our community orchestra in existence. These include liability insurance, rental fees for rehearsals and performances, conductor fees, and music purchases.
If you wish to help contribute to these expenses, you are welcome to become a voting member of the PSO by donating $15 annually. You do not need to be a voting member to be a musician in the orchestra. Voting members participate in the annual corporate meeting at the end of the season.
